Gotha is a small town snuggled between Windermere and Ocoee. The town is named after a German immigrant named H.A. Hempel. The main street of Gotha is Hempel Avenue. Woodland Cemetery Road is the Eastern border of Gotha with Westover Roberts Road to the South and the 408 to the North.
There are not very many subdivisions in Gotha. Many of the homes are larger lot homes on individual properties which are not in a subdivision. Among the few subdivisions include Lake Fischer, Sienna Gardens, Roberts Landing, and Windermere Chase.
The only restaurant in the town is a small sandwich and salad type café known as Yellow Dog eats. Being the only restaurant in the town, it is well-known among the locals. There is one stop light in the center of town with a church, the restaurant, and homes.
Camp Ithiel is a great camp for the local area residents in all the surrounding areas to enjoy. The campgrounds have space for camping as well as cabins for more comfortable camping retreats. In addition to the cabins, the grounds have a dining hall, swimming pool, playground, volleyball court, Soccer and Basketball. The Camp is located on a Lake allowing for fishing and Canoeing. The local Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops use the camp grounds throughout the year. The Camp also has Summer camping programs as well as hosting events such as outdoor weddings.
The only school actually in Gotha is Gotha Middle School. The elementary students attend Thornbrooke Elementary school which is known to be a good school and has a great reading program. Thornbrooke is actually located in Ocoee. The high school, Olympia high school, has also been one of the best high schools in Orange County for years.
The homes in Gotha have a range of prices. Small homes can be found under $200k while the more expensive mansions sell near a million. Gotha is often an overlooked community when house hunting in the Windermere, Dr Phillips, and Winter Garden area. The schools are similar while being so very close to all the sought after amenities nearby. This is one community not to overlook.
